Education
Özyeğin Social Investments believes in the power of investing in education to eliminate inequalities in opportunity in striving for a better future for all individuals. In addition to providing access to lifelong, quality learning opportunities from early childhood to higher education through AÇEV, HMÖV and ÖzÜ, it supports research and institutionalization efforts, vocational education development programs, facility improvement projects, and scholarship opportunities run by other education-focused social impact organizations. It also contributes to the development of the education field by providing its expertise and resources in advisory and executive board member roles to more than 15 institutions, including the Education Reform Initiative, Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey, Vodafone Turkey Foundation and Harvard, Georgetown, and Stanford Universities.
Health
Özyeğin Social Investments has contributed to supporting needs in the field of health, locally and globally, with its investments in post-disaster recovery, epidemic & pandemic response, and general humanitarian aid.
It has enabled the development of successful models with the rehabilitation centers and post-disaster psychosocial support services that emerged after the earthquakes in the Marmara region, Van, and Elazığ. Özyeğin Social Investments also launched the COVID19BRR (COVID-19 Business Response Review) micro website, where it provided for-profit businesses with guidance on designing their pandemic response practices based on examples from local and global actors.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is in the DNA of the FIBA Group of Companies founded by Husnu Ozyegin. In line with that vision, Özyeğin Social Investments aims to instill entrepreneurial traits in new generations through programs run by ÖzÜ and other institutions that focus on enhancing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Turkey.
Özyeğin Social Investments provides in-kind and financial support to the entrepreneurial programs and projects of leading institutions in the field, such as Endeavor, TUSIAD, Ashoka Turkey and the Turkey Entrepreneurship Foundation. It also provides time and expertise through advisory and executive board roles in these platforms.
Gender Equality
Gender equality has always been a shared core value at Özyeğin Social Investments institutions. It directs its resources to positive transformation at the societal level through the educational programs and awareness raising activities run by AÇEV and HMÖV. It also designs and implements pioneering policies and practices in the field of gender equality within the FIBA Group of Companies.
OzSI takes an active role in and supports platforms working in the field of gender equality in Turkey, such as the YenidenBiz Association, %30 Club, Women on Boards Association, and TUSIAD, with a vision of investing in new generations who are free from stereotypical gender roles and are aware of their individual potential.
Rural Development
Özyeğin Social Investments believes in the power of building and expanding alternative development models for sustainable welfare. To that end, HMÖV developed in 2008 a needs-driven, multi-faceted, rights-based rural development program and since then proven its impact on the social and economic welfare of its recipients.
HMÖV has been carrying out rural development projects in the villages of Bitlis and Kilis for more than 10 years. With its award-winning rural development model, it enriches the rural development agenda with its implementation and policy oriented suggestions. HMÖV shares its academic insights and practical know-how through the ÖzÜ Sustainability Platform. It has published the “Local and Rural Development from a Sustainability Perspective” book and made available its rural development specialists to carry out capacity building trainings for stakeholders from civil society, ministries, and development agencies working in the field of rural development.
