A young entrepreneurial university…

Özyeğin University was established by the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation in 2007 with a mission to create, share, and apply knowledge in the service of society, and provide education at international standards.

With its innovative structure, educational approach integrated with diverse sectors, unique course programs and research activities, ÖzÜ aims to generate a new model that inspires universities in Turkey and in the region.

ÖzÜ upholds the mission of being a third generation university: sustainability and “studies that benefit the society” are among its top priorities. In alignment with this strategy, the university produces unique, creative, and useful information through projects and patents developed in its research laboratories and centers under the leadership of distinguished academicians with international experience. The level of research funding attracted by ÖzÜ is already at significant levels on an international scale. ÖzÜ has also enjoyed many accomplishments in international and national rankings.

According to TUBİTAK’s Innovative and Entrepreneurial University Index, ÖzÜ has continuously ranked first among universities established after 2000 in Turkey.

Sustainability is defined as one of the most important values in its founding strategy and to that end, the University has established a dedicated Sustainable Development Platform. It contributes to societal development by collaborating with institutions from different sectors.

ÖzÜ strives to become a financially accessible university for successful students regardless of their financial situation. Under its Scholarship Program for Equal Opportunities in Education launched in 2015, the university provides full scholarship opportunities to successful students who have limited financial means. 89% of all undergraduate students received scholarships during the 2017-2020 academic years.

ÖzÜ was founded with the vision of entrepreneurship: it aims to train its students not only as professionals but also as “individual”, “corporate” and “social” entrepreneurs, enabling them to take pioneering roles in growing the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Turkey. To that end, ÖzÜ students benefit from career advisory services and sectoral courses and can establish their own companies while still studying.

ÖzÜ’s Çekmeköy Campus in İstanbul, spanning across 280.000 m2, accommodates Turkey’s first LEED Golden certified buildings. The campus houses 14.143 students who are a part of 23 undergraduate and 43 graduate programs under 6 faculties, 2 vocational schools and 3 graduate schools.
